Drop-In Sessions at Xchanges

We offer Life Drawing, Portrait Drawing, and Sculpture Figure Studies in our gallery. Our sessions include Wednesday and Friday daytime sessions and a Monday evening Life Drawing sessions.

These are non-instructed sessions; all experience levels are welcome. It's a great place to meet other artists and hone your figurative skills in a supportive and creative environment.

Drop-in sessions are held in the gallery. Drawing boards, donkeys, sculpture stands and coffee provided. Participants provide their own materials.

Life Drawing/Painting:

Monday evenings, 7:00–9:00 p.m.

Male & Female models. Gestures to 20-minute poses.
Drop in $10.00 ($8.00 for members) per 2-hour session.

Long Pose Painting/Drawing and Portrait Groups: held on alternate Wednesdays

Portraiture:

10 a.m.–noon
members of the session group take turns modeling
$5.00 per 2-hr. session.

Long Pose:

10 a.m.–noon, longer if there is demand
with Male & Female models
$5.50 per hour.

Classical Portrait Drawing Class with Noah Layne:
held on Thursdays, February 2nd to March 1st, 2012.
Please register by January 26th.

Cost: $180 includes model fees.

Noah will show you classical techniques for drawing a realistic portrait. Noah will teach the use of plumb lines, comparative measurement, and tilt angle to find correct proportions. This is a great opportunity to study academic drawing in Victoria!

Award-winning artist Noah Layne has shown his work in shows and galleries across North America, and been short-listed for Canada's National Portrait Competition “The Kingston Prize” as well as being a Hudson River Fellow in New York.

Sessions are regularly held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month.

10:00am–2:30 pm (with 1/2 hour lunch break);
Female and male models; one four-hour pose;
$20.00 per session.
